Gold futures topped $745 an ounce in New York on Thursday, the highest level in 28 years, as the dollar fell to a new all-time low against the euro.
Gold for December delivery was last up $15.10, or 2.1%, at $744.60 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It touched a high of $746.30, a level not seen since 1980.
Gold for immediate delivery was last up $10.70 at $732.50 bid.
